In the Finger Lakes region of western New York there is a place called The Marshes. It is a beautiful swampy wilderness with hidden perils of quicksand, snakes, coyotes and deep ponds.
When Rick Garrett went into The Marshes on his mountain bike on July 5th, he had no idea that he would meet a beautiful young woman named Jamie Knight. He didn't know that in the extraordinary July heat they both would be tested to the limits of their strength, endurance and determination. He didn't know that Mother Nature was out of control and that both of them would struggle to survive.

I found 'The Marshes' to be a quick and exciting read. The story is fast-paced and the tension builds quickly as the story unfolds. The setting is realistic and the underlying assumptions are unusual and help to build tension for the reader. The young couple involved are suddenly thrown into an unexpected situation, and their relationship grows as they face one danger after another as the short story unfolds.I enjoyed the engaging story and was disappointed when it ended. The mixture of danger, horror, and clever twists and turns kept me turning the pages - until I ran out of pages! A fun read!

This was one of the scariest books I have ever read. I couldn't put it down
Well written. Gripping tale.
I enjoyed this book very much. The premise is not out of the realm of possibility which heightens the drama. As the book progresses so does the relationship between Rick and Jamie. They become real to the reader and the other characters in the book, although of minor importance, are well depicted. You feel what they are feeling and thinking. It kept my interest right up to the end.
